Ms Fraser - 2nd Grade
Hello and welcome to Second Grade at St. Rose of Lima!
My name is Stephanie Fraser, and I’m so excited for a wonderful year together. Teaching is my passion, and I love helping students build confidence, grow in their faith, and discover the joy of learning. In our classroom, we focus on hands-on, engaging lessons that support every learning style while creating a warm, positive environment where all students feel safe and successful.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing soccer, and running KidCove’s afterschool Tutor and Wellness programs. I can’t wait to learn and grow with your children this year!

Second Grade Overview
ELA (Reading & Writing):
In 2nd-grade ELA, students will begin each day with independent reading to build strong habits and grow their love of books. Using our Fundations program. We will practice key skills such as reading fluency, comprehension, spelling patterns, grammar skills, and writing simple paragraphs. We will also enjoy fun whole-class read-alouds and short novel studies. My goal is to help every student become a confident reader who feels proud of their progress.
Math:
In 2nd-grade Math, students will strengthen their understanding of place value, addition and subtraction, time, money, measurement, and early geometry. We will use hands-on activities, centers, games, and real-world practice to make math meaningful and engaging. The focus is on building confidence, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
Religion:
In 2nd-grade Religion, students will learn more about God’s love, prayer, kindness, and making good choices. Using the Sadlier We Believe program, we will explore Bible stories, saints, and ways we can live like Jesus each day. Students will also prepare their hearts for receiving First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Science:
In 2nd-grade Science, we use A Closer Look and hands-on investigations to learn about plants, animals, habitats, weather, solids/liquids/gases, and how living things grow and change. Students will explore, observe, and ask questions as they begin to think like young scientists.
Social Studies:
In 2nd-grade Social Studies, we learn about communities, neighborhoods, maps, landforms, government, and important people in history. Students will build their map skills and begin to understand how people live, work, and help each other in a community.
